This is Adam Hamawy. He just won the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District (NJ-12). 🤯
Hamawy was born in Egypt, and shortly afterward his parents moved to the United States when he was 7 months old.
Hamawy is known for his anti-Israel stance and his anti-Semitic rhetoric.
He was also a good friend of Omar Abdel-Rahman, known as the “Blind Sheikh,” an Egyptian Islamist convicted in 1995 for leading a seditious conspiracy to wage a campaign of urban terrorism against the United States.
Operating out of mosques in New York and New Jersey, Abdel-Rahman issued religious edicts (fatwas) that inspired the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and was involved in plots targeting major landmarks, including the United Nations headquarters, the FBI’s Manhattan office, and regional bridges and tunnels.
The chances of Hamawy losing the upcoming election are low, since the district is heavily Democratic.
