Ben Gurion Airport Launches Free 1-Hour Waiting Lot to Curb Roadside Parking Fines

The Israel Airports Authority has opened a dedicated waiting lot at Ben Gurion International Airport, offering free parking for the first hour to drivers picking up arriving passengers. Located just a few minutes from the terminal, the new lot is designed to give drivers a comfortable area to wait until passengers are ready, helping to streamline traffic flow around the airport.

The initiative comes alongside a strict reminder that stopping or waiting on the shoulders of roads within airport grounds is strictly prohibited and presents a major safety hazard. Enforced by a comprehensive camera network across the entire airport perimeter, drivers caught violating these parking rules face a 500-shekel fine.

Drivers can easily navigate to the new facility by searching “חניון המתנה לשעה בנמל תעופה בן גוריון” on Waze. The airport authority is supporting the launch with a targeted radio and social media campaign encouraging drivers to utilize the lot for stress-free, legal pickups.
