Bondi hero Ahmed Al Ahmed’s brothers charged for threatening him
Two of Bondi Beach Massacre hero Ahmed Al Ahmed’s brothers have been charged with threatening communications, according to New South Wales Police, with local media reporting they also tried to extort him for money.
The 33- and 35-year-old men were arrested last Monday and charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend, NSW Police said. They appeared at Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday.
9News reported that Hozifa and Sameh Al Ahmed attempted to extort $200,000 from their brother, who was wounded after disarming one of the terrorists during the December attack on a Hanukkah event that killed 15 people.
“I will put your head under my boot, break your other arm, and smash your face. We will only leave if you give us $100,000 each,” Hozifa allegedly said on May 7, according to 9News.
A GoFundMe campaign for the 44-year-old has raised more than AUD $2.6 million to support him after he was hospitalized.
Ahmed Al Ahmed became a household name after he wrestled a weapon from one of the Bondi gunmen, Sajid Akram, during December’s mass shooting that left 15 people dead at a Chanukah event at Bondi Beach.
