CENTCOM Denies Reports of Seven Sailors Dying Aboard USS Abraham Lincoln
US Central Command said Thursday that reports alleging seven sailors died in a brawl aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln and suggesting a spike in suicidal ideation among the crew were “false.”
“No service members aboard the aircraft carrier have died, and the one Sailor who fell overboard Aug. 3 was quickly and safely recovered,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.
The command said the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group remained “resilient and resolved” after more than 260 days at sea, 10,000 aircraft flights and 1.5 million pounds of ordnance expended.
