Two visiting Chabad shluchim stopped by Kalamata in Lakewood today for lunch.
During a conversation with their server, who has lived in Jackson for 20 years and worked at Kalamata for the past five, they learned that he is Jewish. When they asked whether he had ever put on tefillin, he shared that he had not, and that he had never celebrated a Bar Mitzvah.
The shluchim quickly retrieved their tefillin and, right there in the restaurant, helped him celebrate an impromptu Bar Mitzvah and fulfill this meaningful mitzvah for the first time.
