Code Blues issued in NY and NJ

With freezing and sub-freezing temperatures coming to the tri-state Tuesday night, Code Blues are in effect for New York and New Jersey.

New York City issued its Code Blue starting at 4 p.m. and lasting through 8 a.m. Wednesday. When a Code Blue is initiated, over 50 city hospitals, DHS drop-in centers and shelters operate on full open-door policies.

Code Blues are declared when temperatures are 32 and below, including wind chill values.

In New Jersey, the Office of Emergency Management issued Code Blue activations for nearly every county, including Bergen, Sussex, Passaic, Warren, Essex, Hudson and Union counties.
