Cold Snap Lingers Early Week Before Late-Week Warm-Up, Weekend Rain Expected
Winter is still hanging on in the tri-state area, with cold weather alerts posted for much of southern New York and northern New Jersey from Monday night into Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to fall into the 20s and 30s overnight, triggering frost advisories and freeze warnings.
Monday itself will be breezy, with highs near 50 degrees. It will begin mostly sunny before cloud cover increases later in the day. By Tuesday morning, lows will again approach freezing, though sunshine returns and daytime readings remain close to 50 in most locations.
On Wednesday, scattered morning showers may affect the commute as temperatures climb into the low 60s. A noticeable warm-up follows on Thursday, bringing more pleasant conditions and highs that could reach or surpass 70 degrees, with Friday staying near that level as well.
By the end of the week, rain is expected to move in for Saturday and Sunday, along with a drop back to cooler temperatures.
