Colombia Earthquake Death Toll Surpasses 100

A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on the morning of August 10, near San José del Palmar in the Chocó department. The tremor, which occurred at a depth of approximately 107 km, was felt across the country and in neighboring nations.
According to reports by Reuters, the death toll has climbed to at least 111, with more than 80 people injured. Officials have documented extensive damage, including 1575 homes affected, dozens of homes destroyed, and 61 buildings damaged.
Many residents remain trapped under rubble as rescue operations continue in hard hit areas such as Pereira in Risaralda and Cali in Valle del Cauca.
The quake toppled structures, including parts of a cathedral in Manizales, and prompted flight suspensions at several airports.
