Antisemitic Cornell student turns down interview because he’s ‘not interested in working for a Jew’🤬
A Cornell University student who applied for a summer internship with a Jewish-owned NYC startup turned down the opportunity with a hateful message: “Not interested in working for a Jew,” the company’s CEO revealed on X.
Austin Franco, 19, sent the message through job board site Handshake after applying to VryfID, a startup founded by Jewish brothers Gabe and Aiden Einhorn that helps renters and landlords verify identities to prevent fraud.
Franco had been under consideration for a role on VryfID’s growth team when Gabe Einhorn, 24, reached out to schedule a Zoom interview. Franco replied: “Not interested in working for a Jew. Thanks.”
Gabe shared a screenshot of the message on X, saying he wanted to highlight rising antisemitism. Although he initially concealed Franco’s name, online users quickly identified him.
Franco later defended his remarks on X, writing that his experiences with Jews “on the aggregate” had not been positive.
Cornell, where Franco studies industrial and labor relations according to his since-deleted LinkedIn profile, is investigating. A university spokeswoman said Cornell “condemns antisemitism and all forms of hatred and discrimination in the strongest possible terms.”
The Einhorn brothers launched VryfID in summer 2025. Gabe said the platform verifies renters for $20 and matches them with apartments they qualify for, while helping landlords find suitable tenants.
