Drone strike targets UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, sparking generator fire

A drone strike targeted the United Arab Emirates’ Barakah Nuclear Power Plant on Sunday, causing a fire in an external electrical generator located on the outskirts of the facility, Fox News’ Trey Yingst reports.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office and the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation confirmed that emergency teams quickly responded to the fire in the Al Dhafra Region. Authorities emphasized that the strike had no impact on radiological safety levels, no injuries were reported, and all essential systems remain fully secure and operational.

The incident marks the first time the multi-billion-dollar facility—the Arabian Peninsula’s only commercial nuclear power plant—has been targeted during the regional conflict. While no group has officially claimed responsibility for the attack, the strike threatens to severely strain the fragile, multi-front ceasefire currently in place.
