Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty says Cairo supports President Trump’s initiative to negotiate with Iran and is pushing to hold these talks as soon as possible.
According to Reuters, Cairo is talking with Tehran to stop attacks on Arab Gulf countries.
“We have to continue our efforts; it’s all about diplomacy and negotiations,” Abdelatty said on Iran’s response to the U.S. plan. “I cannot elaborate on the U.S. plan for Iran, but efforts continue between Egypt, Pakistan, and Turkey and other international and regional partners.”
The Egyptian top diplomat stated that Cairo is ready to host any talks related to Iran, “as long as it serves de-escalation.”
