Devastating Fire Destroys Mordy’s Shtiebel in Lakewood as Sifrei Torah Are Safely Rescued
A massive fire erupted early Tuesday morning at Mordy’s Shtiebel, located at 15 Delaware Trail near the Lakewood-Jackson border, heavily damaging the building before crews brought the flames under control around 7:00 a.m.
The blaze started shortly after 6:00 a.m., prompting numerous firefighters and emergency responders to rush to the scene as intense flames engulfed parts of the structure.
B’chasdei Hashem, the Sifrei Torah inside the Shul were rescued from the wreckage. Central Jersey Chaverim volunteers entered the building during the aftermath to recover the Sifrei Torah, confirming they were unharmed.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
