Gas Tanker Carrying Allegedly Stolen Fuel Explodes in Massive Fireball in Mexico
Dramatic video captured the moment a gas tanker truck allegedly hauling stolen fuel exploded into a massive fireball that rocked a Mexican city Thursday morning.
Footage shared on social media showed a raging inferno near the town of Tepeaca when the tanker suddenly erupted, sending thick black smoke into the sky. A loud boom followed the explosion, and flames could be seen inside the mushroom-shaped cloud of smoke.
The blast tore through an LP gas storage site in the San Juan Negrete neighborhood around 10 a.m., prompting authorities to battle the flames and evacuate nearby homes, hospitals, and schools, according to local media.
The tanker was allegedly transporting smuggled gasoline when it exploded. It remains unclear whether anyone was injured or killed. An investigation is ongoing.
