Grey Bull Rescue, a veteran-led nonprofit known for its high-risk extractions, has announced it is suspending all rescue missions and returning to the United States.
The decision follows a Jerusalem Post report and a viral video in which an American mother accused the organization of “extortion,” claiming her daughter was held in Jordan until a $1 million ransom was raised.
While Grey Bull founder Bryan Stern has strongly denied the allegations—clarifying that he was informing families of the massive costs of chartering aircraft rather than holding passengers hostage—the controversy has led to a devastating loss of major donors.
Stern stated that the financial impact has made it impossible to sustain current missions, forcing the organization to shutter its operations in Israel and the surrounding region despite having hundreds of pending evacuation requests.
