Lebanese sources report that Ali Reda Abbas, a veteran and highly senior military official known as “Abu Hussein Barish,” died during the IDF’s Operation Eternal Darkness.

Abbas, who held the elite title of “Great Jihadi Commander,” was targeted during the April 8 wave of airstrikes that struck over 100 strategic Hezbollah command centers across Lebanon.

Abbas was a third-generation member and was widely identified as the successor to Ibrahim Aqil in leading the elite Radwan Force.

His death marks a major blow to Hezbollah’s specialized military leadership, as he was a key figure responsible for the group’s tactical operations in southern Lebanon. He had previously survived several other attempts on his life during his long tenure in the organization.
