Hezbollah FPV drone targets senior IDF commander during field patrol in southern Lebanon
A Hezbollah FPV explosive drone was launched toward a field patrol involving a senior IDF officer, Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo.
According to reports, the senior officer exited his vehicle along with a staff officer shortly before the drone struck the vehicle directly. No casualties were reported, as stated by Channel 11.
Military correspondent Itai Blumenthal reported that the incident raises serious questions about the threat posed by drones—specifically whether it is appropriate for senior commanders to enter southern Lebanon during daylight hours while the IDF still struggles to adequately counter this capability.
In response, operational procedures for field visits in certain routes in southern Lebanon have reportedly been updated.
It was also reported that Hezbollah has begun adopting a new strategy described as “hunting commanders,” targeting IDF officers operating along the northern border and in southern Lebanon, according to data from the Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center.
