IDF Eliminates Hamas Commander Operating Under Cover as Hospital Doctor in Central Gaza
The IDF Spokesperson announced that Southern Command forces executed a targeted strike in the central Gaza Strip, eliminating Jamal Abu Oun, a platoon commander within the military wing of the Hamas terrorist organization. Abu Oun had been operating under civilian cover, working simultaneously as a medical doctor at the Yaffa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
As part of his operational role within the terrorist organization, Abu Awn commanded Hamas militants and actively planned and executed terror plots targeting IDF positions and the State of Israel.
Military officials revealed that over the recent period, he was heavily involved in spearheading force-building, rehabilitation, and rearmament efforts for Hamas. Authorities emphasized that these hostile procurement and regrouping activities were carried out in direct violation of the active ceasefire agreement.
