According to a report by the IRGC-affiliated Tasnim News Agency, Iran has officially decided to suspend all diplomatic negotiations with the United States. The decision by Tehran to walk away from the talks comes in direct response to the ongoing, heavy airstrikes targeting Lebanon.
In a parallel move that threatens to disrupt global energy markets, Iran has ordered the immediate closure of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic. The critical chokepoint handles a massive portion of the world’s daily petroleum shipments, raising immediate economic concerns internationally.
Furthermore, according to the Tasnim report, Iran has made a strategic decision to expand the maritime conflict by ordering its Houthi proxies in Yemen to reactivate the shipping front in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Activating this southern flashpoint risks a complete blockade of the main trade route leading into the Red Sea and Suez Canal, creating a dual-front crisis for global shipping lanes.
