Iran-linked hackers say they breached FBI director’s personal email
Handala hacking group says a breach of the FBI is ‘coming soon’, alleges FBI director’s information has been compromised.
The Iran-linked hacking collective Handala announced it had breached the account of FBI Director Kash Patel after the US government seized the group’s domains and offered a $10 million reward for its leaders. In posts on its Telegram channel, Handala threatened further attacks on US systems, calling the FBI’s cybersecurity “nothing more than a joke” and sharing photos and what appears to be Patel’s resume.
The warning followed claims that US defense contractor Lockheed Martin had been compromised, though the company denied any breach and reaffirmed its confidence in its “multi-layered information systems.”
The US Justice Department and FBI have both vowed to “hunt down every actor” behind the group. Despite US threats, Handala continue to post messages, portraying the actions of the FBI as desperate attempts by Washington and its allies to silence the group.
