Iran’s response to Islamabad’s request to extend the ceasefire: We are ready to defend against any threat and evil
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, in response to journalists’ question about “Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar’s request to Iran and the United States to extend the ceasefire of April 19 while appreciating Pakistan’s efforts to end the imposed war and establish peace, emphasized: “The Islamic Republic of Iran was not the initiator of this imposed war and its actions are all in line with the inherent right of Iran’s legitimate defense against the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime.”
Baqaei added: “Based on this, the Islamic Republic of Iran, while closely monitoring the developments in the field and political arena, takes the necessary measures to protect the interests and national security of Iran, and the armed forces are fully alert and ready to comprehensively and decisively defend Iran against any threat and evil.”
According to Iran’s Seda va Sima news agency (IRIB News), this is Iran’s only official response to Pakistan’s request to extend the ceasefire; And apart from this, no other statement or position has been issued by the Iranian authorities.
