Iran reportedly seizes vessel in Strait of Hormuz
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has issued a new advisory reporting that a commercial vessel anchored 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, was boarded by unauthorised personnel.
Sources indicate the vessel was boarded by IRGC operatives. According to the report, the ship’s Company Security Officer (CSO) confirmed it is now bound for Iranian territorial waters. UKMTO is actively investigating the incident.
The vessel was located 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah in the Gulf of Oman, near the approaches to the Strait of Hormuz. No immediate information on injuries or the status of the crew has been released.
The incident is the latest in a series of maritime confrontations in the region amid ongoing tensions between Iran and Western and Israeli interests following the fragile ceasefire.
UKMTO has urged all vessels in the area to maintain extreme caution, increase vigilance, and immediately report any suspicious activity.
