Israel Marks Yom HaZikaron, Honoring Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terror
Israel commemorates Yom HaZikaron beginning tonight and continuing through tomorrow, paying tribute to those who gave their lives in defense of the country and to victims of terrorism.
The nation remembers 25,648 soldiers who fell while serving in the Israel Defense Forces and other security branches, as well as 5,313 civilians who were murdered in terror attacks over the years.
Across the country, memorial ceremonies, moments of silence marked by sirens, and visits to military cemeteries bring Israelis together in collective remembrance and reflection.
A memorial siren will sound on April 20 at 20:00 and on April 21 at 11:00.
In the event of a real emergency alert, the siren will be immediately replaced by a rising and falling alarm.
