Israel’s National Security Council Issues Global Terror Warning Ahead of Pesach
Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) has issued a heightened warning for Israelis abroad, citing an increased threat of terror attacks linked to Iran and its proxies amid the ongoing conflict.
According to the NSC, several attack plots directed by Iran, its affiliates, and self-radicalized individuals inspired by them have been thwarted in recent weeks. However, a number of incidents have still occurred, including attempted and actual attacks targeting Jewish sites—such as explosive devices placed at synagogues in Belgium and Netherlands, as well as a foiled attack on a synagogue in the United States.
The NSC reiterated its assessment that the Iranian regime is expected to intensify efforts to carry out attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets worldwide.
With the upcoming Passover and other spring holidays—including Shavuot, Yom HaZikaron, and Yom Ha’atzmaut—the NSC warned that gatherings of Israelis abroad may present attractive targets for both organized terrorist groups and lone attackers.
As a result, Israelis traveling or residing abroad are urged to exercise heightened caution across all destinations. The NSC strongly advises against attending unprotected or open-air Passover events.
Particular concern was raised regarding countries near Iran—including Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf states—where Israelis are advised to avoid gatherings at visibly Jewish or Israeli-affiliated venues due to the risk of targeted attacks.
In Asia, the NSC highlighted Thailand and the Philippines as areas requiring increased vigilance.
Travel to the Sinai Peninsula is strongly discouraged, except for transit through Taba Airport. For international travel, the NSC recommends using Ben Gurion Airport as the primary gateway. Those choosing to travel via neighboring countries should limit their stay to transit only, using Taba Airport in Egypt or Aqaba Airport in Jordan.
Additionally, travelers are advised to avoid flight connections through countries with a Level 4 (high) threat warning.
