Israel warned Lebanon it would pay a “heavy price” if attacks by Hezbollah continue from its territory, as Israeli airstrikes targeted areas in eastern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut. Israeli officials said the strikes were aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure following ongoing cross-border fire linked to the wider regional conflict.
Lebanese authorities said the strikes hit towns in the Bekaa Valley, killing at least 16 people and injuring others. Hezbollah-linked areas in Beirut’s southern suburbs were also struck, with explosions reported overnight as Israel expanded its operations against the Iran-backed group.
The Israeli government said Lebanon’s leadership bears responsibility for allowing Hezbollah to operate from its territory and warned the country could face broader consequences if attacks continue.
