Major Defense Deal Amid War: Israel Sells PULS Rocket Artillery System to Greece for ₪2.3 Billion
In a ceremony at the Defense Ministry in Athens, Israel and Greece today signed a major defense export deal for the supply of PULS rocket artillery systems to the Greek military, valued at approximately ₪2.3 billion.
The event was attended by the Head of Procurement at Israel’s Ministry of Defense, Brig. Gen. (Res.) Yair Koles, the Director General for Defense Procurement at the Greek Ministry of Defense, Gen. Ioannis Bouras, CEO of Elbit Systems Land, Udi Vered, and other senior officials from both countries.
The agreement underscores the close defense cooperation between Israel and Greece and is part of a strategic effort led by Defense Minister Israel Katz and Ministry CEO, Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, to expand Israeli defense exports. The deal aims to strengthen the IDF, advance national policy, and bolster Israel’s defense industries and economy.
The PULS system is a versatile weapons platform capable of launching rockets and missiles over various ranges. Greece’s acquisition will provide operationally proven precision strike capabilities. Elbit Systems will serve as the prime contractor, supplying PULS launchers and a comprehensive ammunition package, including guided rockets of different ranges. Implementation will span four years, followed by a ten-year support and maintenance period.
In line with both Israel’s strategic defense plan and Greek government policy, the deal includes industrial cooperation, with part of the system’s components produced within Greece.
Defense Minister Israel Katz: “This deal, following my visits to Athens and discussions with my counterpart on advancing strategic measures between our countries, including expanded defense cooperation and contracts, reflects the deepening defense partnership between Israel and Greece and the high confidence in the Israeli defense system.
Israel’s defense industries, including Elbit, are at the global forefront. Even during the current war, they have significantly increased production, met the IDF’s immediate needs, and continued advancing strategic international deals.
