Israeli AG to Indict Netanyahu’s Chief of Staff Tzachi Braverman, Pending Hearing
Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and State Attorney Amit Aisman announced that Tzachi Braverman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff, will face a pre-indictment hearing for obstruction of justice, fraud, and breach of trust.
The charges stem from the high-profile classified document leaks investigation. Prosecutors allege that in October 2024, Braverman used his position to gather unauthorized information on a Shin Bet and military probe into the leak of secret raw intelligence to the German newspaper Bild.
According to the indictment, Braverman held a midnight meeting with Netanyahu’s then-media adviser, Eli Feldstein, in a car inside the Kirya defense headquarters. Braverman allegedly showed Feldstein a list of names being monitored in the leak probe, asked if the investigation was targeting the Prime Minister’s Office, and offered to intervene, stating: “Is this connected to you? Is this connected to us? Because if so, I can shut it down.”
Feldstein was arrested days later for transferring classified documents, which investigators believe were leaked to shift public blame onto Hamas for stalling hostage negotiations.
Braverman, who maintains his innocence, was previously barred from entering the Prime Minister’s Office and issued a travel ban. The legal proceedings have also blocked his planned appointment as Israel’s ambassador to the United Kingdom. His defense team blasted the decision, expressing confidence that the suspicions will be cleared during the upcoming hearing.
