Israeli military doubts war will topple Iranian regime – FT

The Israeli military is reportedly increasingly skeptical that regime change in Iran will be possible in the coming weeks, casting doubt on one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s core war aims as the Islamic republic shows its ability to endure intense bombardment.

Two people familiar with the matter told Financial Times that the prevailing view within military intelligence was that the war had not created the conditions for ousting the Islamic regime in the near future.

One of the sources, who is familiar with briefings from the Israel Defense Forces’ intelligence directorate Aman, said it appeared that the aerial campaign had yet to measurably erode the Iranian regime’s hold on power since the US and Israel launched the war on February 28.

Israel is now reportedly focusing on destroying military infrastructure rather than directly destabilizing the government.
