Israeli Navy Intercepts “Global 2 Sumud Flotilla” in International Waters After Convoy Sailed From Turkey Toward Gaza
The IDF began taking control Monday morning of a flotilla headed toward the Gaza Strip in an attempt to break the naval blockade on the enclave. The 57 vessels departed from Turkey last week and were expected to reach Gaza if not intercepted.
The flotilla currently being boarded includes 58 boats, 15 of them affiliated with the Turkish terrorist organization IHH, the same group that organized the 2010 Mavi Marmara flotilla, which ended in violent clashes.
According to assessments, hundreds of people are participating, including around 100 Turkish nationals, making this operation significantly more complex and raising concerns over the possibility of violent resistance, according to reports by Army Radio.
