Israeli rescue, humanitarian delegation to take off for Colombia tonight after earthquake
Israel’s combined search-and-rescue and humanitarian aid delegation will leave Nevatim Air Force Base for Colombia tonight following the earthquake that has so far killed 273 people, injured 3,824 and left 377 missing, the Foreign Ministry says.
The 80-member delegation, named Brit Re’im, or “covenant of friends,” will fly on an Israeli Air Force plane. It includes IDF soldiers and Foreign and Defense Ministry officials and is being led by the IDF Home Front Command and Foreign Ministry.
The search-and-rescue unit is commanded by Brig. Gen. (Res.) Yossi Pinto, commander of the IDF National Search and Rescue Unit.
The delegation will distribute food and water to earthquake victims and conduct search-and-rescue missions.
