Following Security Developments: Israir Announces Major Reduction in Flight Operations
In light of recent security developments and a directive from the Ministry of Transport, a new framework will take effect today at 5:00 pm, significantly impacting Israir’s flight operations.
Under the new restrictions, Israir will be permitted to operate only about 50% of its recent flight volume, with a strict limit of up to 50 passengers per outbound flight from Israel.
Throughout Operation “Roaring Lion,” the airline emphasized that it has acted with full transparency and fairness toward all passengers, prioritizing customers responsibly. Israir states it will continue to uphold these principles — both for passengers with outbound and inbound bookings.
However, the company noted that the new framework severely limits its ability to operate flights regularly and economically. As a result, several key decisions have been made:
1. Limited Destinations:
Effective immediately, flights will operate only to nearby destinations: Athens, Larnaca, Rome, Tbilisi, and Addis Ababa (including necessary humanitarian support). These destinations will serve as connection hubs for onward travel.
2. Flight Cancellations:
All flights booked through April 8, 2026, will be canceled in accordance with the new framework. Passengers will be offered either:
• A future travel voucher worth 130% of the original ticket value, valid for 24 months, or
• A full refund
3. Reassignment of Passengers:
Passengers who purchased tickets from Ben Gurion Airport to Athens, Larnaca, Rome, Tbilisi, and Addis Ababa will be reassigned to flights operating on these routes, subject to the updated schedules.
4. Future Sales:
Once the reassignment process is completed, flights will reopen for booking via the company’s website and travel agents.
Israir acknowledged the challenges faced by many passengers who had planned trips, particularly ahead of the holiday period, and apologized for the inconvenience. The airline expressed appreciation for customers’ understanding, patience, and trust during this time.
The Israir team remains available for any questions or clarifications and will continue to provide updates as needed.
