John Kerry Confirms Report That Benjamin Netanyahu Made Case for Iran War to U.S. Administrations
Former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed reporting from The New York Times that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had presented the Obama administration, as well as previous administrations, with a case for war with Iran and argued that it was the right course of action.
Stephen Colbert: “And what was the response at the time?”
John Kerry: “No.”
“Obama said no. Bush said no. President Biden said no. I mean I was part of those conversations. I remember them well. And we just felt that we had not exhausted all the remedies of peaceful process.”
“And speaking as a veteran of the Vietnam War where where you know decisions like that were so critical. We we were lied to about what that war was about. And the lesson of that war and of Iraq is don’t lie to the American people and then ask them to send their sons and daughters to fight. Don’t do that.”
