King Charles visits Golders Green to support Jewish community after terror attack
King Charles III visited Golders Green today to reaffirm his support for the British Jewish community following a stabbing attack that occurred late last month.
The attack took place on April 29, 2026, when two men—Norman Shine, 76, and Shloime Rand, 34—were stabbed in broad daylight. The attack began on Highfield Avenue and continued onto Golders Green Road before the suspect was detained by members of the Shomrim neighborhood watch and subsequently arrested by police. Authorities have since declared the stabbings a terrorist incident, and 45-year-old Essa Suleiman has been charged with attempted murder.
During his visit, the King met with both victims to check on their recovery and spoke with emergency responders from Shomrim and Hatzalah. He also held a meeting with Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis to discuss the impact of the attack on the local community. The King’s visit follows a recent pledge in the King’s Speech to introduce new legislation aimed at tackling antisemitism and threats from hostile state proxies.
