Mail Carrier Arrested for Pushing 4-Year-Old Still Working for USPS
Gabriel Stan, a 39-year-old mail carrier, remains employed by the USPS following his arrest over an incident involving a 4-year-old chassidish boy in Monsey, according to the New York Post.
Authorities charged Stan with assault and endangering the welfare of a child after video surfaced showing him pushing the boy to the ground. Neighbors told the Post that Stan has a history of outbursts and has shouted at people during his deliveries.
The alleged incident happened on March 19 near a cul-de-sac where children were playing. Footage shows the boy approaching a mailbox near Stan’s postal truck before being pushed. The child quickly stood up, retrieved his yarmulka, and returned to play with other children nearby.
Police said they are not treating the case as a hate crime. A USPS spokesperson said that the agency does not discuss personnel matters beyond employment status.
