Netanyahu Pledges Support for Northern Communities, Vows to Disarm Hezbollah
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met Wednesday with government directors and local leaders along Israel’s northern border. He outlined the goals of the ongoing operation in Lebanon, the fight against Iran, and promised increased economic aid for communities near the fence.
Reviewing IDF achievements, Netanyahu said, “We faced a threat of a ground invasion by thousands of Radwan terrorists, above and below ground. That threat has been neutralized.” He added that the army is expanding the southern Lebanon security zone to buffer against anti-tank missile attacks on homes.
He emphasized that disarming Hezbollah remains the ultimate goal, calling it part of the broader campaign against Iran, which continues despite media reports.
On civilian aid, Netanyahu said planned northern budget cuts have been canceled and additional resources are being provided for rehabilitation and treatment. He urged local leaders to prevent the abandonment of communities. On the Druze community, he noted their slaughter demanded Israel’s action, calling it an amoral and political matter of the highest order.
Praising Israeli fighters, Netanyahu said, “Their bravery and daring have changed the equation. We are breaking bounds thanks to them, their commanders, and the decisions we are making.”
He concluded, “Israel is stronger than ever, Iran weaker than ever. The region sees it, and new alliances are emerging. The strength of Israel, the IDF’s determination, and our citizens’ resilience are reshaping assessments of our power and role. This is true in the north and in the issues we face.”
