Video shows #HERO Oklahoma principal tackle Columbine-inspired gunman:
New footage shows an Oklahoma high school principal tackling a gunman who opened fire inside Pauls Valley High School on April 7.
According to court documents, 20-year-old former student Victor Lee Hawkins entered the school at 2:19 p.m. carrying two loaded semi-automatic pistols.
He yelled for everyone to get on the ground, then pointed a gun at a student and attempted to shoot, but the weapon malfunctioned.
Hawkins briefly stepped behind a vending machine to clear the jam, then returned and fired at another student. He ultimately told both students to leave, and they escaped.
Principal Kirk Moore ran to the lobby after hearing gunfire and, without hesitation, charged and tackled the gunman. Moore wrestled with Hawkins on a bench, managed to disarm him, and with help from the assistant principal held him down until police arrived.
Hawkins had studied the Columbine shooting and shot Principal Moore in the right leg during the struggle. His guns malfunctioned multiple times, giving students time to flee.
Moore was treated for his wounds. Hawkins faces charges in the incident.
