As the U.S.-Israel war with Iran enters its third week, the Pentagon has developed detailed contingency plans for deploying American ground forces into Iranian territory, according to CBS News.

Senior military commanders have submitted formal requests outlining potential operations, including logistics for detaining Iranian personnel if escalation occurs.

Pentagon officials are also preparing to send up to 5,000 additional Marines and sailors to the Middle East to bolster regional forces and secure key waterways amid ongoing attacks on shipping. At the same time, the Defense Department has requested more than 200 billion dollars in emergency supplemental funding from Congress to sustain operations, a move that has drawn questions given President Trump’s repeated assurances that the war will end very soon.
