Pentagon Releases New Batch of Classified UFO Files

The Pentagon on Friday released a third batch of previously classified files on alleged UFO sightings, including reports of glowing, sometimes red, orbs seen in the northeastern United States.

The first two batches were released May 8 and May 22. President Donald Trump is the latest president to declassify U.S. government reports on unidentified flying objects, continuing a disclosure process that began in the late 1970s.

Friday’s release of what the Pentagon calls “unidentified anomalous phenomena” (UAP) includes 72 files from the FBI, CIA, and Pentagon, featuring testimony, videos, and artistic depictions. Several reports describe sphere or orb sightings in the same general Northeast location.

One February file cites FBI interviews with two people who reported seeing an intense bright light in their backyard one evening. Their identities and location were redacted.

One witness “described the red color as being brilliant and beautiful, and that [redacted] had never seen anything that color of red before,” according to the FBI report.

The red sphere, about three feet wide, contained a “white plasma sun” the size of a basketball at its center. The witnesses later noticed a second orb, and the two appeared tethered together as they moved away. Weeks later, they reported several white orbs flying over the house at a much higher altitude.

A July 2025 interview referenced earlier orb sightings nearby. An October 2024 report described a plasma-like sphere hovering above a pond that intermittently changed shape and brightness, sometimes appearing to split into smaller luminous points.

“These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled speculation, and it’s time the American people see it for themselves,” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said.
