66% of Jewish New Yorkers oppose Mamdani, 75% against Democratic Socialists of America, new poll suggests

A new Siena University Poll of 811 likely New York gubernatorial voters found that Jewish New Yorkers disapprove of Mayor Zohran Mamdani 66% to 26%, while 75% disapprove of the Democratic Socialists of America and 17% approve. Conducted Aug. 3-6, the poll found 43% of all likely voters, including 67% of Democrats, think New York is on the right track, while 47%, including 86% of Republicans, say it is headed in the wrong direction. More than half of independents, 55%, also said the state is on the wrong track.
Among Jewish voters, 51% said New York is headed in the wrong direction and 39% said it is on the right track. Jews made up 8% of respondents, or 64 or 65 people.
While 53% of Jewish New Yorkers said the country’s best years are ahead and 39% said they are behind, only 42% said New York’s best years are ahead and 36% said they are behind.
In the governor’s race, Jewish voters favored Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul over Republican Bruce Blakeman 49% to 42%. They favored Democratic state Attorney General Letitia James over Republican Saritha Komatireddy 61% to 28%. However, 48% said Blakeman would be more likely to keep New Yorkers safe, compared with 44% for Hochul.
If congressional elections were held today, 52% of Jewish New Yorkers said they would vote Democratic and 41% Republican.
Weighted portions of the poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.6 percentage points, while other portions had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.2 points.
