Qatar’s Revenue Plummets 23.5% in Q1 Amid Regional Conflict with Iran, Fueling Massive Deficit

Qatar’s Ministry of Finance released its first-quarter financial report, revealing a severe economic contraction driven directly by ongoing military hostilities with Iran and persistent disruptions to regional energy corridors.

According to official data, Qatar’s national budget recorded a significant deficit of 10.3 billion Qatari riyals for the first quarter of the year. Total government revenue plummeted to 37.8 billion riyals, marking a sharp 23.5% decline compared to the first quarter of 2025.

The dramatic revenue shortfall highlights the intense economic toll the conflict has taken on the Gulf state, primarily due to prolonged maritime instability in the Persian Gulf and restricted liquefied natural gas export capabilities through the volatile Strait of Hormuz.
