Rashida Tlaib linked to secret Facebook group glorifying Hamas, Oct 7 massacre: report
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) is a member of a private, non-searchable Facebook group called “Palestinian American Congress,” where posts after October 7 massacre, which killed over 1200 and saw hundreds more taken hostage, appeared to glorify Hamas, according to Fox News.
Posts in the group praised the “resistance,” shared images of Israeli victims, and included statements such as “We don’t want to throw you in the sea…we want you to ride it back from where you came,” alongside an image of an elderly Israeli hostage. Others dismissed the atrocities, criticized U.S. media coverage, and framed the massacre as justified retaliation, with one post calling it an attack by “the grand kids of the refugees… attacking the grand kids of the colonists.”
The group is run by Palestinian activist Maher Abdel-Qader, a longtime Tlaib ally who has posted antisemitic content, including calling Jews “satanic” and questioning the Holocaust death toll. He chaired Tlaib’s 2018 finance committee, donated thousands to her campaigns, appeared with her at events, and was publicly honored by her.
Since Oct. 7, Abdel-Qader has continued posting inflammatory claims, including falsely blaming Israel for a deadly Gaza hospital explosion, later attributed by intelligence reports to a failed Palestinian rocket. Tlaib also amplified that claim.
Tlaib has previously been censured by the United States House of Representatives over antisemitic comments. Abdel-Qader has also supported other Democrats, including Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), and has been linked to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison.
