🚨BREAKING: Satmar Factions Unite to Demand Return of Late Rebbe’s Estate Items
In a historic move, both branches of Satmar, led by HaRav Aharon, shlit’a, of Kiryas Yoel and HaRav Zalman Leib, shlit’a, of Williamsburg, have issued a joint letter demanding the immediate return of all items from the yerusha of their father, the Beirach Moshe, ZT”L.
Signed by all sons and sons-in-law, the letter comes nearly 20 years after the Rebbe’s passing and represents a huge step toward a fair and proper division of the yerusha.
The family says that as they began organizing the estate, many valuable items were missing, including sefarim, handwritten manuscripts, and other sacred objects passed down through generations. The letter warns that anyone holding these items is considered in possession of stolen property and emphasizes that nothing should be returned to an individual Rebbe. All items must go to the general estate to be divided equally among all heirs.
Behind the scenes, representatives from both sides have reportedly been negotiating for years to resolve disputes over financial assets and priceless heirlooms. The Beirach Moshe, ZT”L had entrusted his loyal meshamesh, Reb Moshe Friedman, known as Moshe Gabbai, with the estate. After the brothers’ split, the division remained frozen for nearly two decades.
Around two years ago, many items were moved to a secure location, cataloged, and evaluated. The collection includes rare manuscripts and sacred objects spanning generations, from the Yismach Moshe to the Divrei Yoel, with an estimated value of millions of dollars.
The letter sets a firm deadline, saying that all items must be returned by Lag BaOmer. Those who comply will receive full mechila. Arrangements are in place for discreet returns through designated shluchim.
Anyone uncertain whether an item belongs to the estate is urged to contact representatives for a private halachic review with rabbonim.
The announcement has already drawn attention across Satmar, with many reviewing items in their possession.
