Teen Killed After E-Bike Crashes Into UPS Truck in Burlington County
A teenage boy was killed Tuesday when his e-bike collided with a UPS truck in Burlington County.
The crash occurred around 10:45 a.m. at the intersection of North Firelane Road and Tranquility Court in Southampton Township. According to NJ State Police, an initial investigation found the teen was riding a Talaria electric dirt bike eastbound on North Firelane Road when it struck the right rear of a UPS box truck at the intersection.
The impact ejected the teen from the dirt bike, causing fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported.
A UPS spokesperson said the company is cooperating with investigators.
The crash comes weeks before New Jersey’s new e-bike laws take effect in July. Under the law, riders must be at least 15 years old and have a valid driver’s license, e-bike license, or permit. E-bikes must also be registered with the Motor Vehicle Commission, and all riders will be required to wear helmets.
State police said the investigation remains active and no additional information has been released.
