Terrorist Identified in Deadly Sharon Region Shooting; Police Raid Tayibe and Arrest Suspected Accomplice
The terrorist behind this morning’s deadly shooting attack in the Sharon region has been identified as Omar Yassin, an Israeli citizen known to law enforcement authorities.
Yassin reportedly had a serious criminal background and had previously been involved in multiple violent incidents in the area, including shootings.
Following his identification, joint forces from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and Israel Police carried out targeted raids in the city of Tayibe, from where he is believed to have set out to carry out the attack.
Officers from the Central District Police arrested an Arab suspect in Tayibe on suspicion of assisting in the morning attack near Kokhav Yair.
During the arrest, the suspect allegedly attempted to stab officers. No injuries were reported, and he was transferred to interrogation.
