Two trains have collided near Bedford, England, with reports of injuries and fatalities

Two trains collided south of Bedford, England, on the Midland Main Line on Friday evening. At least 50 people have reportedly been injured, with multiple fatalities reported as well.

Emergency services including multiple air ambulances responded to the scene between Bedford and Luton. Thameslink and East Midlands Railway services have been severely affected with all lines blocked in the area.

Thameslink confirmed the closure advising passengers not to travel between Luton and Bedford. East Midlands Railway stated trains are unable to run in or out of London St Pancras for the rest of the evening with major disruption expected until the end of the day. Alternative routes via other operators are available with ticket acceptance.
