Turkey’s interior minister declares Israel will one day be under Turkish rule
Turkey’s Interior Minister, Mustafa Ciftci, said he prayed, “grant me the governorship of Jerusalem,” while serving as governor of Corum and Erzurum, speaking Saturday at an AK Party Corum Provincial Advisory Council meeting.
Referring to the fall of the Assad regime, he said he hoped to see Jerusalem “liberated” as Damascus was and that “those lands will be ours once again.”
The Assad regime fell in December 2024 after Ahmed al-Sharaa seized control of Syria. Since then, the country has been plagued by sectarian violence. Despite this, President Sharaa has been widely embraced by Western governments, many of which have moved quickly to lift sanctions on Damascus.
“G-d willing, they will come under our sovereignty and dominion once more,” Ciftci said. “Because we have a global leader like Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at our helm. A world leader.”
The Ottoman Empire controlled Israel for more than 400 years until its defeat by the Allied powers in World War I. In 1918, it surrendered to Britain by signing the Armistice of Mudros.
