On April 14, an 18-year-old former student armed with a shotgun opened fire at Ahmet Koyuncu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Siverek, Şanlıurfa province. He wounded at least 16 people, including 10 students, four teachers, a police officer, and a cafeteria worker. The attacker killed himself when cornered by police.

Today, a teenage student in Kahramanmaraş province used his father’s guns to shoot randomly in classrooms at a middle school. The assault killed at least four people, three students and one teacher and injured more than 20 others. The shooter then took his own life.

Authorities are investigating motives and firearm access in both cases. Officials have expressed condolences and pledged thorough probes, sparking discussions on school security and gun storage.
