Dallas-Fort Worth airport to install Islamic foot wash stations inside bathrooms🤯
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport plans to install dedicated Wudu stations in the existing mens and womens restrooms on the concourse level of Terminal D.
These low level basins support the Islamic practice of ritual ablution known as Wudu which Muslims perform before prayer by allowing travelers to wash their feet in a designated area rather than in standard sinks.( HOT Mikva coming soon….)
Airport officials emphasize a practical safety benefit as well because passengers currently washing their feet in regular sinks create wet slippery floors and cause damage to the counters. The project adds one station in a mens restroom and one station in a womens restroom. It is privately funded at an estimated cost of three hundred thousand dollars and was registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on July 31.
Construction is scheduled to begin on August 31 and finish by December 31 of 2026. Terminal D handles a substantial share of the airports international flights making the addition relevant for global travelers.
Comparable facilities already exist at other major United States airports including Chicago OHare and Houston Bush Intercontinental where low level basins and related spaces help manage international passenger traffic while keeping restrooms cleaner and safer for everyone.
The new stations at Dallas Fort Worth will be placed in public restrooms so any passenger may use them to wash their feet if desired.🤮
