EL AL Extends Flight Cancellations and Tightened Travel Restrictions Amid Ongoing Security Situation
EL AL has announced an extension of its flight cancellations and strict travel restrictions as Israel continues to enforce tightened aviation policies due to the ongoing security situation.
The airline confirmed that existing limitations will remain in place, including a reduced number of destinations and caps on the number of passengers permitted on outbound flights.
As a result, flights that were originally scheduled under the gradual “return to routine” plan—intended to resume outbound travel from Israel through April 18—continue to be canceled. Most inbound international flights are also still affected under the extended measures.
Currently, EL AL is operating outbound flights only to a limited number of key destinations, including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Bangkok, London, Paris, Rome, and Athens.
Inbound flights from these destinations are continuing without passenger restrictions.
With seat availability still significantly reduced, passenger placement on flights is being handled according to priority criteria, based largely on original booking dates. The airline is also prioritizing urgent humanitarian and medical cases.
To assist customers during this period, EL AL has maintained a dedicated FAQ section for outbound travel updates, accessible through the “Updates Management” area on its website.
Ticket sales for outbound flights from Israel remain closed through April 18 under the extended policy. Tickets for inbound flights are still available, subject to availability.
Passengers whose flights have been canceled due to the ongoing situation remain eligible for either a full refund or a travel voucher. Customers who booked tickets on or before February 28, 2026, for departures scheduled through April 18, 2026, may cancel and receive a refund via their original payment method or opt for a voucher for future use.
Passengers who purchased tickets through travel agencies are advised to contact their agents directly for cancellations or changes.
