The first victim identified in the tragic Boeing B-52 Stratofortress bomber crash at Edwards Air Force Base in California on Monday has been named as Lt. Col. Miles Middleton (retired), a former commander of the 419th Flight Test Squadron.
After retirement, Middleton worked as a Boeing test pilot, where he was actively involved in the B-52 modernization programs, including radar upgrades and engine replacement efforts.
He was flying on the routine test mission in that civilian capacity when the aircraft went down.
