New developments in the investigation into the disappearance of the Israeli mother and daughter who went missing in Vienna.
Israeli police officials say: “We are very optimistic.”
The two were seen on CCTV leaving their apartment on their own.
According to current reports from Israel Hayom, the apartment owner has stated:
The two made a mistake during the online booking and therefore had to leave the apartment already on Saturday morning. They left the apartment clean and tidy.
Security cameras show the two women leaving the apartment alone with suitcases/luggage, consistent with the landlord’s statement.
In addition, at least one of their phones was found near Vienna’s central train station.
Physical searches for Mali Yahalomi (50) and her daughter Liel (23) have ceased, but the investigation continues and has reportedly expanded to other countries.
There is no indication of criminal activity.
According to N12, the two are believed to have fled the country, possibly to South America.
Israeli officials have landed in Vienna to investigate the incident, the report added.
Additionally, Vienna Police conducted hospital checks and internal investigations. However, they’ve refrained from an official public search due to a lack of legal grounds, N12 said. Initial allegations say that the two went underground and fled by train to Germany, leaving Europe from there.
Separately, earlier this week, the bank where the mother worked as a manager, Bank of Jerusalem, said that customers’ money is safe. There is no suspicion of embezzlement.
The bank’s stock has dropped on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange since the disappearance of the mother and daughter.
